Paschal Cross Country competed at the Byron Nelson Invitational this past Saturday. This was another huge, extremely competitive meet that saw boys' and girls' teams running against the top 6A and 5A teams in North Texas. Our Varsity girls raced in the Elite Division, finishing 8th overall, but 2nd among 5A teams and beating several of our Region 1 competitors.

The girls were led by standout performances from Freshmen Stella Simpson and Vivian Gonzales, who both finished in the top 30 out of 200+ runners. Senior Isabelle Kerran also had a huge day, running a massive PR - she beat her previous best by over 90 seconds! Personal Records were also recorded by Val Beltran, Molly Piper, and Seeleigh Schwarz, and Coaches Daus and Connally are so proud of the work they've done to reach new heights.

Varsity boys also ran in the Elite Division and finished 5th overall, beating all of the other 5A teams in the race, including several Regional rivals! Senior Nolan Werth led the team and had another podium finish, running 3rd overall and setting his fastest 5K with a time of 15:42. Five Varsity boys ran personal best times: Alex Wills, Asher Werner, Owen Tulbert, Gavin Garcia, and Travis Zapata. With one more meet before district, everyone is moving in the right direction.

The JV Girls' team also performed extremely well against tough Varsity competition, with five runners setting personal best or season best times. The JV boys, also running against Varsity competition, set some of their fastest times of the season.

We are so proud of the way these athletes continue to attack the work we are doing, running tough workouts while most of Fort Worth is still sound asleep. We are looking forward to one more huge meet before district competition begins, and can't wait to see what this team can do at district and beyond!
